About Us

Who we are?

Nous is a think-tank and media house working at the intersection of research, media, and technology — dedicated to reshaping how Muslims and other marginalised communities are represented in public discourse.

Born out of the crisis of truth during the CAA–NRC movement (2019–2020), Nous was founded in January 2022 to reclaim narrative spaces where mainstream media had long fallen silent. Guided by our credo — “From Metaphysics to Masses” — we transform rigorous scholarship into stories that inspire hearts, shape minds, and inform policy.

We blend rigorous academic inquiry with powerful visual storytelling — turning data, history, and critical thought into documentaries, podcasts, explainers, and reports that speak truth to power. From documenting the legal dismantling of minority rights to reviving forgotten Muslim histories, Nous works to make knowledge public, ethical, and impactful.

Unlike conventional think tanks that limit themselves to policy reform, Nous seeks to reconstruct the intellectual and moral grammar of public discourse. Its output blends theoretical clarity with aesthetic precision — enabling audiences to engage both cognitively and emotionally with the ideas it advances.

Vision

Our vision is to build an informed, inclusive, and self-represented public sphere where Indian Muslims — and all marginalized communities — can tell their own stories with truth, dignity, and depth.

Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between research and public understanding by transforming rigorous academic inquiry into accessible, data-driven, and visually compelling narratives that shape discourse, influence policy, and reclaim agency.

Why Nous?

For decades, mainstream media has shaped public opinion about Indian Muslims — often with bias, hostility, and erasure. What was once news has turned into propaganda: spreading fear, fueling division, and silencing Muslim voices from the national conversation.

Nous Network exists to counter that — to make truth visible and scholarship public. Through fieldwork, design, and dialogue, Nous translates complex ideas into narratives that educate, resist, and re-imagine.

We do not just report stories. We research, document, and create impact.

What Nous Does?

1. Research & Advocacy (Think-Tank): We conduct surveys, build public databases, and produce policy reports on law, education, development, and representation. Our research feeds both scholarly and public conversations on issues such as:

  • Minority education and representation
  • Legal pluralism, UCC, and personal law
  • Islamophobia and digital hate
  • Muslim political thought and constitutionalism
  • Socio-economic indices for Indian Muslims

2. Media Production (Studio & Channel): Our in-house production studio turns research into cinematic storytelling — crafting explainers, documentaries, and podcasts that bring evidence and empathy to the public eye.
